The National University of Study and Research in Law, Ranchi, invites original and unpublished contributions for its edited volume titled “The Weight of Choice: Consumers, Competition and the Contours of Protection.”

Eligibility

• Academicians and faculty members.
• Legal practitioners and policy professionals.
• Research scholars and doctoral candidates.
• Undergraduate and postgraduate students from recognised universities and institutions.
• Interdisciplinary contributions from law, economics, public policy, business, and technology are encouraged, provided they engage with consumer protection, market regulation, or consumer rights.

Themes and Sub-Themes

• Jurisdictional Overlap Between the CCPA and the CCI.
• Greenwashing and the Limits of Consumer Trust.
• Vulnerable Consumers: Protection Beyond the Default Adult.
• Gig Workers as Consumers, Not Just Labour.
• Consumer Law Beyond E-Commerce.
• Class Actions and the Underused Section 35(1)(c).
• Authors may also propose other topics that reasonably fall within the ambit of the themes and sub-themes.

Submission details

• Articles: 5,000–6,000 words.
• Short Articles: 2,500–4,000 words.
• Legislative Comments: 1,500–2,500 words.
• Book Reviews: 1,000–2,500 words.
• Word limits are inclusive of footnotes.
• Submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.
• Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.doc/.docx).
• Citation Style: Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (21st Edition).
• Maximum of two authors per submission.
• All submissions will undergo a blind peer review process.
• A separate cover page containing the author(s)’ name, institutional affiliation/designation, contact email, and phone number must be submitted separately from the manuscript.
• Selected papers will be published as chapters in an accredited book bearing an ISBN.
• Submission and publication are entirely free of cost.
• Each author will receive one complimentary copy of the published volume.

Formatting guidelines

• Font: Times New Roman.
• Main text: 12-point font.
• Footnotes: 10-point font.
• Headings/Sub-headings: 16/14-point font.
• Line spacing: 1.5 for main text and single spacing for footnotes.
• Alignment: Justified.
• The use of generative AI tools for drafting substantive portions of the manuscript is discouraged.
• Authors remain responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of their work.

• Release of Call for Chapters: 14 September 2026.
• Last Date for Paper Submission: 15 November 2026.
• First Phase of Acceptance of Chapter: 1 December 2026.
• Editorial Feedback Communication: 25 December 2026.
• Release of Book Name: 1 January 2027.
• Final Acceptance: 5 January 2027.
