The Centre for Environmental Law invites original submissions for Volume III, Issue 1 of the Journal of Centre for Environmental Law, focusing on emerging legal questions, technological developments, regulatory challenges, and interdisciplinary approaches to environmental governance.

The Institute of Law, Nirma University, was founded in 2007 under the vision of Dr. Karsanbhai K. Patel. The Institute focuses on academic excellence, innovation, interdisciplinary learning, practical legal training, research, and professional development.

About the Journal

  • The Journal of Centre for Environmental Law, Institute of Law, Nirma University, is a biannual, double-blind peer-reviewed journal.
  • The journal is dedicated to advancing research and academic discourse in environmental law.
  • It provides a platform for original and rigorous scholarship on contemporary environmental issues and emerging legal developments.
  • The journal adopts an interdisciplinary approach encompassing law, policy, governance, sustainability, technology, and related fields.

Eligibility

  • Submissions must comply with the journal’s requirements concerning originality, anonymity, relevance, formatting, and academic integrity.
  • Manuscripts must be original and unpublished.
  • Submissions must not be simultaneously under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  • Authors must ensure compliance with the prescribed formatting and submission requirements.
  • Manuscripts must be anonymised and must not contain the author’s name, institutional affiliation, or other identifying information.

Law, Technology and Environment

The issue seeks to examine the increasingly important relationship between law, technology, and the environment, particularly as technological developments transform how environmental problems are identified, regulated, and addressed.

  • Contributors may also submit research on other relevant topics falling within the broader theme of Law, Technology and Environment.

Submission details

  • Full-Length Articles: 5,000–10,000 words.
  • Research Notes: 3,000–5,000 words.
  • Book Reviews: 1,000–1,500 words.
  • Word limits are exclusive of the abstract and footnotes.
  • Abstract: 250–300 words.
  • Keywords: 3–5 keywords to be placed below the abstract.
  • Citation Style: OSCOLA, 4th Edition.
  • Manuscripts must be submitted in both Microsoft Word (.docx) and PDF formats.

Formatting guidelines

  • Font: Times New Roman.
  • Body Text: 12 pt.
  • Headings and Sub-headings: 14 pt.
  • Footnotes: Times New Roman, 10 pt.
  • Line Spacing: 1.5.
  • Margins: 1 inch on all sides.
  • Page Size: A4.
  • Alignment: Justified.
  • Citation Style: OSCOLA (4th Edition).

Submission guidelines

  • Submissions must be original, unpublished, and not simultaneously under consideration elsewhere.
  • Each submission must include an abstract of 250–300 words and 3–5 keywords.
  • Manuscripts must be anonymised and must not contain the author’s name, institutional affiliation, or other identifying information.
  • Author details and other identifying information must be provided separately.
  • A similarity score of up to 15% is permissible, subject to examination of the nature and source of the similarity.
  • AI-generated content is strictly discouraged for substantive portions of the manuscript.
  • AI-based tools may be used only for limited language enhancement, proofreading, or correction of grammatical errors.
  • Authors remain responsible for the accuracy, originality, arguments, and sources of their submissions.
  • The Editorial Board aims to communicate the initial decision within 6–8 weeks of submission.
  • The peer-review process includes preliminary review, substantive review, and final editorial assessment.
  • Original articles will be assessed by at least two external referees.
