The Kerala Law Academy Law College is organising its 32nd International Seminar on “The Right to Be Forgotten in the Digital Age: Rethinking the balance between the right to be forgotten and the right to remember in a connected world” in virtual mode.

Eligibility

Academicians, researchers, legal practitioners, policymakers, technology experts, research scholars and students may participate.
Papers must align with the theme of the International Seminar.
Only one paper per participant is permitted.
Co-authorship is permitted up to two authors.
Papers must be original and not previously published or under consideration elsewhere.
Abstracts and papers must be written and presented in English.

Guidelines

Suggested themes include the evolution and concept of the Right to Be Forgotten, privacy and digital autonomy, digital memory, freedom of expression, public interest, comparative legal perspectives, judicial approaches, technological challenges, proportionality, constitutional foundations, Article 21, children’s privacy, personal data, digital identity and online reputation.
The themes are illustrative and not exhaustive. Authors may submit papers on any topic aligned with the central theme.
The paper must be in Times New Roman, with heading in 14 pt and text in 12 pt.
The paper must be in A4 size, single-line spacing and justified.
The paper must not exceed 2500 words, including the title, author details and footnotes.
Authors are encouraged to follow The Bluebook (20th ed.) citation style.
Footnotes must be in Times New Roman, 10 pt and inserted using the Word footnote option.
Speaking footnotes are discouraged.
An abstract not exceeding 250 words must be submitted for consideration.
The abstract should contain a synopsis of the paper, proposed subtitles, reference materials and a brief conclusion reflecting the author’s perspective.
The abstract must be accompanied by a cover page stating the title of the paper, sub-theme, name of author(s), name of institution/organisation, official designation, email address, postal address and contact number.
Submission must be in Word format.
References need not be provided separately and must be included as footnotes.
Precedents may be italicized but not bold.
All subheadings must be left-aligned and in bold.
Papers will be screened by a committee.
Approved full papers will be accepted for presentation, with intimation made via email.
The final paper must include a cover page with name, designation, discipline and year of study, if applicable, address, email ID and contact number.
The main title in the final paper should contain the author’s name as a byline, accompanied by a footnote with discipline and year of study, if applicable, and designation.
Publishing charges, if any, for the proceedings shall be borne by the author.

Registration details

Paper Presentation: ₹1,000.
Co-Authorship: ₹1,200.
Seminar Participation: ₹250.
A soft copy of the publication will not be provided unless an additional payment of ₹200 is made.
A hard copy requires an additional payment of ₹600.
