The Global Policy Drafting Challenge is a case-study-based policy drafting and presentation competition organised by the Intellectual Property Rights Committee in collaboration with the International Relations & Foreign Policy Committee of the School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University).
Eligibility
• Students enrolled in any undergraduate programme, in any course across various disciplines, at recognised universities and institutions in India are eligible to participate
• Teams must comprise a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 members
• Cross-institutional teams are permitted
• There is no limit on the number of teams that can participate from one university or institution
• The official language of the competition is English
Competition details
• The competition will address contemporary global issues at the intersection of intellectual property, international relations, technology and public policy
• Themes include cross-border AI and copyright governance, AI-generated designs, geographical indications, indigenous rights and international trade
• Preliminary Round: Online
• Participants will receive the proposition/case study at the commencement of the Preliminary Round
• Participants will receive 15 minutes exclusively for reading and understanding the proposition
• Drafting Period: 1 hour
• Top 8 teams will qualify for the offline Quarter-Final Rounds
• Quarter-Final, Semi-Final and Final Rounds: Offline
• Venue: Bangalore Central Campus, Central Block, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bangalore
Submission guidelines
• Font: Times New Roman, size 12 for text and size 10 for footnotes
• Line spacing: 1.5 for text and 1.0 for footnotes
• Citation Style: Bluebook, 20th Edition
• Policy draft must not exceed 5 pages, exclusive of footnotes
• Submissions must be anonymised and carry only the team code
• Submission must be titled “TC-[assigned code] Policy Draft”
• Submissions must be made in both PDF and Word formats
• Plagiarism exceeding 10% may attract penalties or disqualification
• Use of AI tools for drafting substantive portions of the policy is strictly discouraged
• Submissions found to be 20% AI-generated or more may be disqualified
