The Moot Court Committee, School of Law, Forensic Justice & Policy Studies, UPSIFS, Lucknow is inviting law students to register for the 1st UPSIFS National Moot Court Competition, 2026, with cash prizes worth ₹1.6 lakh and paid internships for the winners.

About the Organisers

Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Science (UPSIFS), Lucknow is a premier government institution committed to excellence in legal, forensic and interdisciplinary education. It is affiliated with the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Gandhinagar and functions under the aegis of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. The institute focuses on developing competent legal and forensic professionals and follows a “Law-with-Labs” approach, which integrates legal education with practical forensic training.

Eligibility

  • Students pursuing a 3-year LL.B. programme or a 5-year integrated law programme are eligible
  • Students enrolled exclusively in postgraduate or diploma programmes are not eligible
  • Each team must have 2 or 3 members
  • A three-member team consists of 2 Speakers and 1 Researcher
  • A two-member team consists of 2 Speakers, with one Speaker also serving as the Researcher
  • Multiple teams from the same institution may participate, subject to submission of the prescribed No Objection Certificate (NOC)

Competition details

  • Theme: Contemporary legal issues involving constitutional and criminal law, with an interdisciplinary focus on emerging challenges in law, technology, forensic investigation and criminal justice
  • The competition gives students experience in legal research, memorial drafting, oral advocacy, critical thinking and courtroom argumentation
  • Phase 1: Online preliminary rounds on 15 and 16 October 2026
  • Phase 2: Offline rounds on 30 and 31 October 2026 at UPSIFS, Lucknow
  • Registration steps: Complete the prescribed Google Form, pay the fee by bank transfer or UPI, and submit the registration details with proof of payment
  • After the payment is verified, the Primary Contact Person receives a confirmation email with the allotted Team Code, which must be used for all official communication with the Organising Committee
  • Registration fee: ₹3,000 per team, which covers participation in the online preliminary rounds
  • Teams qualifying for the offline phase pay an additional Accommodation & Hospitality Fee of ₹1,000 per person, covering accommodation and meals
  • The registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferable
  • Winner: Cash prize of ₹30,000, trophy, medal, merit certificate, a paid internship with Mr. Aditya Giri (Advocate-on-Record, Supreme Court of India) and three one-year complimentary SCC Online Web Edition subscriptions worth ₹96,000
  • Runner-Up: Cash prize of ₹20,000, trophy, medal, merit certificate and a paid internship with Mr. Aditya Giri
  • Best Researcher: Cash prize of ₹7,000, trophy, medal, merit certificate and a paid internship with Mr. Aditya Giri
  • Best Speaker: Cash prize of ₹7,000, trophy, medal, merit certificate and a paid internship with Mr. Aditya Giri
  • Best Memorial: Cash prize of ₹7,000, trophy, medal, merit certificate and a paid internship with Mr. Aditya Giri
  • E-certificates of participation are provided to all registered participants

  • Draw of lots and memorial exchange: 14 October 2026
  • Preliminary rounds: 15 and 16 October 2026
  • Researcher’s test, quarter-final and semi-final rounds: 30 October 2026
  • Final round and valedictory ceremony: 31 October 2026
