The Moot Court Society of Sir Issac Newton Law College is organising the R. Thandapani Memorial National Moot Competition 2026 on 10–11 October 2026, providing law students an opportunity to research, argue, and compete at the national level.
Eligibility
• Open to bona fide students pursuing 5-Year or 3-Year LL.B. programmes in institutions recognised by the Bar Council of India
• Only one team may participate from each institution
• Each team shall consist of 3 members: 2 Speakers and 1 Researcher
• A maximum of 20 teams will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis
Competition details
• Mode: Offline
• Venue: Sir Issac Newton Law College, Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu
• Teams will compete in two Preliminary Rounds, with each team appearing once as Petitioner and once as Respondent against different opponents
• The top 8 teams based on aggregate scores in the Preliminary Rounds will advance to the Quarter-Finals
• The Competition will proceed through the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, and Final on a knockout basis
• A Researcher’s Test will be conducted during the Preliminary Stage
• The Researcher’s Test will assess legal research, analytical ability, and understanding of the Moot Proposition
• The Researcher’s Test score will not form part of the team’s Oral Round score
• The score will be considered for the Best Researcher Award and, where applicable, as a tie-breaker for qualification to the Quarter-Finals
